after hiking down the kaibab trail the day before and a hurricane force winds all day and night. I ate at the ranch breakfast and then headed out. The bottom of the trail was amazing, as it followed high above the Colorado River before heading up a creek where a cool shelter with a phone was at. loved that place. It followed the creek for a awhile and had several waterfalls, and caves where people have slept over the years due to the silt on the roof of the caves. There was so much life down here, i could see indians easily living right here. Deer where everywhere and a joy to see in herds. Made it to the lunch spot under the big tree with a spring facuet near indian campground. I ate lunch and then headed up, which was rather boring for a while, until you started to climb up the wall. I loved the climb but my knee locked up so I was in serious pain, but walked stiff legged the whole way up. man I wanted to cry so bad, and the pain pills did nothing for me. my knee was the size of a nerf football. to make things worst the gentle sloping trail had ice all over the top, and the only way not to slide off the mountain was to walk on the mule dung which gave me traction. why and in the hell is this trail sloped towards the drop off. freakin idots. they could of channeled the trail for water runoff, but whatever I made it to the top, and it was a blast, even with my messed up knee. I finally did the Grand canyon Kaibab and bright angel trail loop in less than 30 hours. I would do it again and again, just a little worried about my knee. if you going to do it, spend one day at the ranch exploring and swimming, and then one day at indian campsite. thats what I should of did, but me and my brother had more trails to do before the end of the month long trip.
