Barks Canyon was bone dry, as expected, and there was no water anywhere else along the route, although you wouldn't know it from the lush, green landscape. Lots of yellow and a few purple wildflowers still dotted the hills. It was perfect weather, though I would have liked some Fraley clouds in my photos!

I like this hike, but it's even better when the creeks are running. This trip, I took the Cave Trail back, instead of staying on Peralta. The Cave Trail is awesome. It's so... untrail-like. It takes a little longer, but the views and the solitude are so worth it.

There weren't many people out today. I hadn't seen anybody until I came over Fremont Saddle and passed by a couple heading up. Only a few cars in the parking lot.
