This was my first trip to the Catalinas, and officially, this is my first ever Tucson area hike. I did it as a warm-up for the Romero Canyon Pools hike.

There isn't much to see here in terms of history. These ruins have nothing on some of the ruins in northern Arizona. The most well-defined structure is the remains of Romero Ranch and I think the interpretive sign said even that was partially reconstructed.

However, this is a great area to do a little birding. In less than one mile I spotted a Gila Woodpecker, a male and female Cardinal, and countless Cactus Wrens. It also offers a little bit of solitude away from the more crowded trails in the park.
