It was a slow start getting out of our tents at the Chiricahua NM, since the temps had dropped to 25 degrees overnight. We left the park after coffee and breakfast around 9:00am and drove across the high desert to Cochise Stronghold. Matt, Tiffany, and I hiked/trail ran the Cochise Trail past the divide and down to the alternate trailhead, then returned the way we came.

The toughest part of the hike was deciding whether the scenery was better here or at Chiricahua...any thoughts?

Oh, and there are no available maps at the campground, so come prepared. Day use parking is free (I even asked the ranger that was there). The campground is really nice, yet no running water. I believe the camping fee was $12, don't quote me on that one though.
