I decided to share this hike with with some of my coworkers, it is by far my favorite local summit. We had an original ten but only 6 made it to the meeting point in Mesa by 7 AM. So we went on, after we reached the four peaks turn off I was surprised to see the old atv parking lot is now a Cactus Nursery! After a few "Are we there yet's?" from the new hikers we finally reached the trailhead. On the way up I told my coworker Brandon about how many Tarantulas there were out here. He told me in ALL of his time ATV'ing that he had only seen one in the wild. Withing 100m of the trail head we saw our 1st!. The weather at the parking area was 52? and sunny. We made it to the saddle in about 2.5 hours, since we had some new hikers with us. At this point this is where we had one of the 6 stay behind where she later saw 3 more Tarantulas while there. From that point we headed up the steep hill where we left 2 more behind before the small down climb. That is where it got fun! I had two people with me who had never made the ascent before, but they did great! We reached the summit and took some pics before heading back down. Enjoy the pics!
