One of my goals this hiking season is to do more off trail and canyon hiking so on Saturday we decided to head up to Dacite Mesa. We parked at the Lost Gold Mine TH and proceeded up to WBS. We located the Roost pretty quickly, took some pictures, had a snack, then headed out to do some exploring. This is a really cool area. We worked our way NE in the general direction of Weavers Needle figuring that when we were ready we would locate the "exit" down to Fremont Saddle. After a couple hours checking out the area we located the way down and returned to the car/TH via Peralta Trail. What was amazing was that while up on the Mesa just above Fremont Saddle we could plainly hear full converstations of folks talking like they were standing right next to us.
