I had discovered this area about a year before and wanted to go back and look around more, plus get to a petroglyph site. Access to this BLM administered area is limited to about half the year, with closure in effect at the end of February. You must go through private ranch property and state trust land to get there. The area we explored abuts the southeastern part of the Coyote Mountains Wilderness. The most frequent visitors in here are hunters and rock climbers. We did a triangular hike that took us over to the petroglyph site, then on to an old reservoir and dam by the giant rock slabs, before heading back on an old road to where we parked the cars. There is is a lot of illegal activity here, as evidenced by all the trash we saw in the wash. Nevertheless, it is a very beautiful area.
