Today was my first trip on this trail, and though it was rough on my legs, the view at Fremont saddle is great.

The 7 miles of dirt road was recently graded, so I made it fine in my Toyota Camry. The $4 fee is from a pay station, and does accept credit cards, but don't show up with just a $20 bill, as you might end up with a bunch of quarters.

I was a bit surprised to hear running water on the way up, but there is still a small stream running.

The trail wasn't too crowded; there were three or four groups of 5 to 15 people.

The saddle comes upon you without warning, and the view of the needle (see photo) is wonderful. That lone tree is still out there...
