This place is normally over-infested with people in the warm months, many of whom litter and show little regard for this beautiful morsel of nature. What a pleasure it was to have this paradise all to ourselves. On this overcast day, we drove down the creepy, thin, guardrail-less, dirt road to lower part of the creek. Arrived to an empty parking lot and never saw another soul for the rest of the day. Just me, Anna and her son Chris. We hiked along the creek, stopping frequently to enjoy the waterfalls, rapids, and turquoise blue clear pools. We hiked up to an incredible 15' high waterfall and stopped for lunch. Made our way back, the same way we came in. Still not another person to be seen in the entire area.
A cool dip in the water at Fossil Creek in late December may not sound like a fun idea, but if you like solitude, this is the time to go.

This is my gym. I have to travel down a bumpy road to get there. There are no treadmillls, no machines, and no personal trainers. I walk..I run..I breathe the fresh air. I can go any time I want, as much as I want and there is no membership fee.
