A quick hike before the Xmas Eve party in Sun Lakes. This is a most wonderful hike in my backyard... well I wish it was my backyard but close enough. My brother Wayne, his daughter Mia and her boyfriend Andy headed on the trail going west and up to the north end of the NW mountain. It's a fun little quick climb to get your lungs motivated. The views are great tho it was somewhat hazy in the far distances.
We headed across this mountain top and then down and around the west side of the SW mountain where you can get great views of Squaw Peak. Once around this circumference you are at a saddle and so you head north again crossing over the first saddle by the SW mountain and around the circumference of the NW mountain ending back again at the saddle at the SW mountain.
From there we headed around the north side of the two mountains so that we could intersect with Summit Trail and up we went to the top of Lookout Mountain where you are afforded a glimpse of two of the Four Peaks, Weavers Needle and the western Supes in the far background among the rest of the ranges in this 360 view. (You'll have to check out Scout's route once I post it as it looks like we were all over the place despite the exact route I intended on doing. The route drawn on the map reminded me of my first attempt at Etch-A-Sketch.
My brother took the group photo and I got some butterfly photos before we headed back down the Summit trail the way we came. And before you knew it, we were heading back home to get ready for the Xmas Eve party at Cousin Connie's place.
