hike monk
Quite a hike to start 2011. Hike Monk invited me on this one so I figured, here's my chance. Little did I fully realize how scary this hike is. I'm not much of a climber but definitely tested my salt with this one. I couldn't believe how big those drops were and that I was actually up there scrambling around on rocks.

There were quite a few moments where we considered turning around but we made it to the end! Climbing up is one thing but our worries were more about getting back down. We kept going anyways. Luckily, getting back down ended up being much faster. We knew how we came so we weren't wasting much time route finding and scaling back down wasn't as difficult as we thought. From the time we left the Boulder Canyon trail, it took us three hours to summit. It only took ninety minutes to get back down to the trail.

This hike is awesome... but I don't know that you'll ever catch me up there again. That hike is seriously scary :scared: . I'm doing something nice and easy next weekend!

How To Put Out a Campfire
A campfire must be extinguished by drowning it with water, stirring with a shovel, and repeating that process until the campfire is cold to the touch. A campfire is still a danger if it has any trace of heat, and must not be left or abandoned. Wildfires can begin by abandoned campfires that rebuild heat on windy days and then blowing embers ignite surrounding grasses and brush.
