It had been about five years since I had done this hike. I didn't recall it being too stressful so I thought it would make for a good hike with the old man. We were doing pretty good until we got to First Water Creek. Boulder hopping was pretty tough on my dad's knees so I don't think we'll be doing this one again anytime soon.

As a side note, we did get passed by a SAR member shortly after starting the hike. Also, there was a yellow SAR Cherokee in the parking lot when we returned. We also saw what appeared to be a red and white helicopter flying closely overhead near the end of our hike.

Finally a Great Hiking App This is a must have for the avid or even beginning hiker. Easy to set up and use. The Topo maps and the ability to download a track prior to hiking, will ensure I get out of the Wilderness OK. If I set my phone to Airplane Mode, (GPS On) I've gone 13 hours with battery to spare. Recent upgrades have made this very user friendly for both the occasional Hiker/Walker to the All Day Hikers. Lots of Stats available to keep track of what you are doing.
