Not the traditional hike up to the top, rather a loop around the mesa.

Went to check out the lower southeast slopes of Black Top Mesa.

I wanted to match up Barry Storm's location photos of where Adolph Ruths remains where found by Tex Barkley back on Jan 8th 1932. It's amazing that virtually nothing has changed in terrain yet the vegetation has a different feel. Saguaro's are now more abundant in the surrounding area. Mesquites seem fewer and far between.

Ely stated that the earthquake of May 1887 destoyed the great spring at Marsh Valley. Though a short distance away this may have altered the habitat and fauna of the area a bit.

How To Put Out a Campfire
A campfire must be extinguished by drowning it with water, stirring with a shovel, and repeating that process until the campfire is cold to the touch. A campfire is still a danger if it has any trace of heat, and must not be left or abandoned. Wildfires can begin by abandoned campfires that rebuild heat on windy days and then blowing embers ignite surrounding grasses and brush.
