Not even thinking about the fact it was MLK Day we headed out to do the Black Mesa Loop, since we had not yet done this loop. The only reason we got a parking spot at the First Water trailhead was that someone else was pulling out right when we arrived. But it really wasn't as busy on the trail as I expected.

Half way up from the valley on the Dutchman trail a group of 5-6 kids asked if we made it to the top. "Top?", I asked. "You know, to Flatiron." When I gave them the bad news that they were probably on the wrong trail they all had a few colorful metaphors to throw at the leader. :sl:

Another perfect day for hiking! :y:
