We put in at Squaw Lake on the California side, but this area is very close to Yuma. It is just above the Imperial Dam, so the Colorado River is high in this area, much higher than what you'd see crossing the I-8 bridge in Yuma.

By means of narrow waterways, made our way upstream paralleling the Colorado river, then took a little channel out to the main big river. At that time it was flowing at about 9,000 cfs. Pretty nice Eddyline kayaks owned by a woman in Yuma, who runs a business called Yuma Kayaks.

We saw all kinds of interesting things. It is a great area for birding.
