I can't pass up hiking in the desert after a rain so I headed out to First Water this morning hoping the weather might hold out. It sprinkled a little for the first couple miles and then stopped. My original plan was to do the Marsh Valley Loop but as I reached the Calvary Trail, the wind picked up and the sky darkened and it looked like I was going to get unleashed on. Rather then turning around, I cut the difference and decided to follow Boulder Canyon back to the Dutchman. Then the rains finally came about 4 miles from the TH and were much heavier than those earlier in the morning. Then it hailed for a bit
. Luckily it was very small hail. It was a great day out there, though. I love seeing the desert saturated with new colors and smells. There was hardly anybody out there today.
Also, can someone check the fauna label I'm putting up for this set. I'm pretty sure I got a picture of a marmot today but I thought this was way out of their normal environment. If it's not a marmot, then its the biggest ugliest squirrel I've ever seen which would also be weird to have seen in Boulder Canyon.
