A great hike. I really enjoyed it. Perfect weather, and the breeze blowing up the canyon in the afternoon made descending more comfortable. Incredible how dry it is around the Catalinas, which are the wetter area in SE AZ this winter. Believe it or not, there was a little snow on a north aspect near the summit. Virtually no flowers or new green growth at all in the area, which is a contrast to areas that are similar looking north of Phoenix where things are greening up with the little amount of rain that area had.

I think Monsoon season will begin around June 20, plus or minus 5 days, not by the calendar according to the NWS, but when dew points rise dramatically, and it begins to rain over the Sacramento Mountains. It will start about 10 days later in Arizona.
