Bear's Den Falls is located near the town of New Salem, Mass (which is nowhere near the Salem of witch trial fame). It's on a small nature reserve in North Central Mass. During the Indian Wars of the late 1600s, King Philip of the Wampanoag Indians would met here to stage attacks on white settlers. Today, the falls are easy to approach via a signed trailhead off Neilson Rd. south of Lake Mattawa. Then it's an easy ten minute walk into a shady gorge for some solitude in front of the picturesque falls.
"I've driven across deserts, driven by the irony, that only being shackled to the road could ever I be free" - Frank Turner "The Road"
