My first backpacking trip in the Grand Canyon. :y:
We went up on wensday and spent a cold night in the forest just outside town on the forest rd. It was a cold night! We caught the 7:00 suttle to the south kibab trail. The trail kicked my butt and left my calves sore, I was very happy to get to camp. We rested up and then went to the canteen. We sent our post cards and went to see what the ranger was talking about. After a wonderful nites sleep we headed off to Ribbon falls. Going through the box early in the mornig was cool, the creek was realy ripping. The falls were amazing. I stood under the falls on the top and took picture with my face in the hole. The sun was up on the back and it was startin to cook, so we picked up the pace and made it back quick. After another great nites sleep we started the trip out. My legs were beat up. the last miles from Indian Gardens were pure survival for both of us. Its was a death march to the top, I had trouble lifting my legs 6 inches to get over the steps. It took us 6hr from bright angel camp ground to the top a good time I think. We got to the car and showered up at the campground. After that we headed home.
A truly amazing experence, I cant wait to get back!!!!!
