5-16-2011 (I know this is late but I am now having time to catch up on the last of my trip and photo reports from 2010. That's what happens when you turn a casual hiker into a real hiker/backpacker. I actually still have left the Ajo Mountain drive I took my mom on last April and the Missouri River, MT float trip I did in July with my cousins and desertgirl. And I just finished my St Louis trip from June that included a walk around the ever incredible Forest Park. I know, I know: TMI
But you know what they say "better late than never"... 4-18-2010 Since I was so close to the BTA, before making the drive home from Camp Grasshopper - Byous Butte, I decided to run out for a quick trip to see what was brewing at the BTA. And as usual, it never disappoints
. Though I may not have smelled the best after being out camping for a couple days and a hike the previous day, I just kept my distance from the folks.
I started at the Demonstration Garden, walked toward the Cactus Garden via the Rose Garden. Saw a couple variety of birds and strained my camera zoom to get some decent shots. One of my favorite parts of the Demonstration Garden in the spring is the great variety of Iris. And though there seemed fewer here than last year, they are still a flora to marvel at its intricate beauty and hardiness.
It was a wonderful way to end my already wonderful weekend.
(One last note, it is ironic that I am finally getting to this since the Picket Fire actually scorched some of the BTA and the area around it.
