Did this hike again, but followed the newly completed north loop near the summit. This followed the described route to 3.92 miles (N33 43.976 W112 03.970), then turn left at the intersection, rather than right. This "north loop" is about 1 mile shorter than the "south loop". It is flatter and less interesting but provides an alternative for those wanting a somewhat shorter/easier hike or just a different route if they hike this area frequently. It also allows for a circumference loop around Peak 2383 rather than going to the summit. The "north loop" rejoins the main trail at N33 44.328 W112 04.764 where you go straight to return to the trailhead. I also noticed on this hike that work is underway for a new trail linking the trail to Peak 2383 to the trailhead link trail. I'll post a track for the "north loop" segment.

I also noted on this hike that the earlier built trails as described in the Union Hills Loop description are now the Hawk's Next Trail for the connector from the trailhead and Dixie Mountain Loop for the Sonoran Loop Trail (called "loop" in the description).
