I recently read about this area before my trip back east and decided it would be a nice place to check out. The trails were constructed in 2007, some of which were from abandoned railroad lines. The mail trail is the Roaring Run Trail, which is around 6 miles long and parallels the Kiski River. I took the Roaring Run Trail down to the Rock Furnace Trail and headed up that stream. These two trails are very wide as to be handicapped accessible.
From there I found an unmarked single track trail that went past some nice waterfalls along Rattling Run. Then I took a marked trail and found that a large section of it continued unmarked and looped back to the Roaring Run Trail.
My total distance for this hike was over 12 miles but I only did about a third of the total trails there. A map of the area can be found at
