Took off this morning and set out to do the Flatiron with some friends who had never done it. My buddy does Camelback once or twice a week so I thought he may enjoy Siphon Draw up to the Flatiron. He showed up at 6:30 this morning with a small group of five. Off we went and up we went. Shortly into the hike we lost a few as it was too much for them to continue. My Buddy Drew, his friend Dan and one other however continued on and with the exception of a few stops they made it to the top just fine. The sky was overcast and I said if I had brought more water I would just go ahead and do the ridgeline. (my camelbak only holds 50oz) The two guys had some extra water and offered to fill me up. They said they could make their way back down and grab some lunch and then come pick me up at Carney Springs. Are you kidding me this is all coming together perfectly! Done deal and off our separate ways we went! Being June 1st I had the Ridgeline all to myself as I had expected. Heck we only saw two others up to the Flatiron which is a bit unusual. Anyway all was good except it was heating up quickly. I moved fast where it was comfortable to do so and took caution where necessary as well.

Once I was passing 5057 I started having memories of my last trip across and a real scare where I nearly fell. This time I almost just kept going but I had to overcome that experience. Sure enough I found the correct way up this time and it was a cinch by comparison! Signed the register and on my way I went. Once at West Boulder Saddle the sun had started to really come out and temps were above 90 degrees. That last mile or so down was a welcome sight. A quick text and a call to my ride and they hit the trailhead 2 minutes before me. Perfect!
