Another enjoyable outing on the AZT.We set the shuttle up a couple days early so we could sleep in and not meet up until 4:00am
.Thanks to Dave and Nick for driving up from Tucson and Bruce for taking over the driving duties from our Happy Valley meet-up.We saw a Caddy(Bob's) parked at Red Mountain and figured that had to be another Hazer. We were able to hit the trail around 6:40am and the temps were sweeet. This was the most wide open section we have done so far.You could see for miles and miles. The trail follows dirt roads for the first 19 miles or so.Except for a cloud here and there you were in the Sun all of those 19 miles. The Juniper, clouds, blue sky,and Mountain in the distance did make for some great views. We saw lots of cows and a few spirited horses on this section. We took lunch under one of the bigger Juniper with views of Humpherys and Kendrick Mountains. It warmed up quite a bit and we were glad the last 5 miles had a little shade with more Juniper and some Pine.We saw a side of Bruce we had never seen before
.The last five miles and the wide openviews were the best part of this hike, next to the great company,of course
.The sign says they use to charge 20 dollars to ride a stage through here from Flagg to the Grand Canyon,That seems like a lot of monet for the late 1900's.Thanks to Grace for helping set up the shuttle. Thanks to everyone who went for another great outing!!!!!
