Actually started from the First Water parking lot after parking my truck right off 88 and riding my mountain bike down to the trailhead. It was hot to be sure but I'm trying to build up my heat tolerance a little. There was water in a few holes along FWC and of course trickling out of the Hackberry pipe by the nasty mossy slimy stuff. Spent some time in that area in the awesome shade. It must be 20 - 30 degrees cooler in the shade right there below the spring. Someone has been having fires down there lately (naughty, naughty). I also found 3 unopened gallon jugs of drinking water stashed behind a boulder???

Warning: heat kills!
Avoid 8am to 5pm over 90 degrees. Prehydrate & stay hydrated.
Avoid Heat Illness - do NOT hike when temps exceed 100 degrees, period.
