We did this trip last September as an alternate route, and the most beautiful in my opinion, up to the summit of Humphreys Peak. The Inner Basin trail starts at 8,600' and 7.5 miles later (15 miles round trip) we reached Humphreys Peak for a total elevation change of 4,000'+. After hiking up Inner Basin to the Weatherford Trail, we regrouped at Fremont Saddle and enjoy the views to the south of Flagstaff before continuing on to the summit of Humphreys. This hike offers incredible views and is a nice middle-ground to the shorter Humphreys Trail and longer Weatherford Trail.
