This was a great adventure! 17 glorious days, floating down the river, making new friends, having a blast, and learning to row. I was able to learn to row some of the smaller rapids.

We flipped in Lava Falls, which was running at 27,000+. Two of our boats and one commercial flipped within half an hour. It was scary, swimming the biggest rapid in the Canyon, but I didn't have time to be scared, I guess. Pretty thrilling! We didn't do many side hikes, although some of the younger set hiked to Thunder River. It was pretty hot. I have a permit for Sept. 2012, and plan to do more hikes then.
