The Eagle
Tortoise Hiker
This is day one going down South Kaibab and up North Kaibab with a detour to Ribbons Falls via the bridge and including the Bridle Trail to the lodge. The hike started with a little confusion on which shuttle bus to take and when they started running so there was a slight delay but no problem. Once on the shuttle bus large bull elk and harem posed for us like we were a zoo tour. The was nice. On trail the previous day ran had wet down the dirt and it wasn't dusty. :o There were a few swimmers on S Kaibab but we skirted them and kept going. The hike was going well and the temps were nice until a few miles before Ribbon Falls. We hiked in the sun for an hour (no too bad) and stopped by Ribbon Falls for lunch. After cooling down at the falls. We continued on at our steady pace and some clouds rolled in coming up N Kaibab. We enjoyed the clouds but ended up getting rained on for the last hour up the trail. A little on the cold side. Once on the north rim the order was shower, eat and sleep by about 8p. Day 2 would start with a 5a wake up.
Named placeRibbon Falls

Finally a Great Hiking App This is a must have for the avid or even beginning hiker. Easy to set up and use. The Topo maps and the ability to download a track prior to hiking, will ensure I get out of the Wilderness OK. If I set my phone to Airplane Mode, (GPS On) I've gone 13 hours with battery to spare. Recent upgrades have made this very user friendly for both the occasional Hiker/Walker to the All Day Hikers. Lots of Stats available to keep track of what you are doing.
