I've been waiting for a cool day to do an in and out on the National from the Pima Canyon trailhead. Today was overcast for all but a couple hours, which was perfect. Stopped by Goat Hill on the way west, a must for me. Once I reached the west end of the National, I hiked up the Alta trail to Maricopa Peak and then came back the same way. Excellent hike. The National is really a nice trail except for the last couple miles on the west end. Not too many people out and about considering it is a holiday.
