We enjoyed a marvelous dayhike to Horton Creek Spring. Having never been there before, we were pleased at the high creek flow and wonderful pine forest! Our weather was *perfect*, about 70F and sunny. Not a cloud in the sky!

The sun warmed the forest and it smelled wonderful, like sun-baked pines, for the whole hike.
We saw a number of tiny lizards, a few horn toads, and two snakes (red with white bands edged with black). Though this is a popular hike, the ~5 small hiking parties we met on the trail were friendly, as were their many dogs.

Thankfully, the trail wasn't packed as the picnic area parking lot or Horton Campground.
This is a truly beautiful area, and we highly recommend it. A nice day hike from PHX. It took us less than 2 hours to drive up to the trailhead, which is not too bad.
