This is a scenic and interesting little range south and a little east of Casa Grande. The volcanic formations there are quite striking. I have climbed two peaks in the range in the past. I wanted to go back and check on the access points I remembered. Things have changed a little from my last time in there in about 2005. Namely, this is an area of increased smuggling and law enforcement activity. Two of the access points are difficult during periods of high water, while the other has been re-routed due to new homes being built. Once past Greene Wash and inside the range itself, there are some easy 4x4 roads to navigate. The only folks I encountered were a family out riding dirt bikes and some guys on ATVs.
