It was time to give a go at Ridgeline.. My friend Patrick and I were talking about it for a while now and he got away from the little ones on Saturday. Turns out he had others interested as well. He had two friends at work that wanted to play too.

So off we went. Jason, Patrick, Brian, Lido(sp?)and I met up at the Carney Springs trail head a bit after 7. My pops lives in far east Mesa and agreed to pick us up in at the Dutchman gate and take us back to Gold Canyon. I think he was concerned with our decision. After the fact I ended up with voice mails wondering how we were doing.

The parking lot was full and we were told we were shortly behind a large group of 30. We met up with the nice group of people at the first saddle and played leap frog with them all day. Strong hikers the whole group of them.

So on to the hike. After a haul up, up ,up i figured it was a cruise across the top then down, down, down into Siphon Draw. That is not the case. There is not a flat spot on this trail. I think the only flat spot there was we missed by going left and down off the ridge about half way through.

This trail really has to have some of the best views of the Superstition Wilderness. You get an idea as to how vast the area truly is.

For some reason I feel if you didn't have to deal with the bottle neck at Siphon draw and what goes along with that, it would be perfect.

Over all one of the better hikes in the area there is IMO. I am sat here with sore legs and proud of the accomplishment. Not easy and some of the spots are work. Worth every penny and cant wait to do it again.

My pup is not pleased with me though. He knows that I went on an adventure with out him.

Havasu Canyon Trail - Sep 15 2014
I was watching the helicopter make multi-drops of people and supplies when, at one point, a stray horse wandered into the landing field (the gate was open). The guys unloading the supplies chased it around the field until it went back out the gate. Then as it was running up the main drag, another resident must have thought it got loose so he shooed it back into another open gate and back into the field. So now these guys are chasing it around the field again but this time they start pelting it with rocks. The horse was panicking and didn't know where to go. Rocks were being hurled at it from all directions. He ended up falling down after a really hard rock hit and it looked like he broke...
