Good day hiking. John wanted to go see some of the dwellings he missed last week with our unsuccessful upper Devil's Chasm. In particular he wanted to see Devil's Chasm and Cold springs V:136 so we did both. As he mentioned Devil's Chasm has a real trail now. No route finding necessary. I didn't even get cut up with brush.
Unfortunately, it makes it easier for people with candles and tarps to set up one of the rooms as their loveshack or hippity dippity mumbo jumbo rooms complete with a fire ring and campfire in the corner.
They are probably the same people that left the red womans aeropostal sweater by one of the waterfalls.
Added a couple pictures of the canyon I believe we first tried coming down for the Devil's Chasm upper last week. Can't really see where we cliffed out, but I'm pretty sure John wants to go straight up from the bottom carrying a log to put where we cliffed out.
Got done so early we had time to go to Nordhoff-Hope and planned to add that as well, but his new(to him) jeep conspired with that plan and we had an enjoyable sunset walk from the point where Sheriff Nathan Ellison (of the Ellison ranch variety) dropped us off for cell coverage back to the Jeep while we waited for a tow truck.
We did take the time to chat with Nathan (quite a character)who not only got us a tow truck and got us to the one point on Cherry Creek where there was cell phone coverage, but he gave us a little info on dwellings in the Sierra Ancha and some others which have been of interest to me.
My wife was nice enough to pick us up in Superior and everyone got home safe.
