the second hike of our west side trip
a couple people have described this one as a "gem" and i agree
baldy mountain doesn't look like much from a distance, but the journey up is a good one
distance is a bit longer than posted as we didn't remember that you had to go through the gate
nice steady climb, good footing, interesting terrain and desert views
lots of prickly vegetation, but the trail is clear of it
cool black rocks further up
trail is clear enough and well-cairned
views of lake pleasant and the surrounding mountains are great from the summit
in looking for a second hike this morning, i didn't see that there was a loop option
will check that out next time i'm in the area
very nice little hike
thanks 2hikerz!
