| | Wanted to see the cowboy dam in Peters Canyon that Dave1 and I missed during our February hike. I also wanted to check out Cottonwood Canyon north of Peters Mesa/Canyon. Took Bluff Springs trail to the Dutchman to Peters trail up to Peters Mesa. Went off trail from there to the cowboy dam, and over to and up Cottonwood Canyon. I started up towards Tortilla Mountain but ran out of time and energy to make it all the way there, Very steep rough terrain. I came back down the next canyon to the east of Cottonwood. I climbed some stuff going up Cottonwood I didn't want to go back down if I could avoid it. Once I got back down into Peters Canyon, I went south up the creek bed to an intersection with Peters trail. I found another cowboy dam in the creek bed just north of Peters trail. Interesting hike. Nice weather, although very cold in the early AM - windy. Wild flowers seem to be waning a bit.
