I walked this version: First Water TH, Second Water Trail to Boulder Canyon Trail to LaBarge Creek, up the Creek to the Box, over the low Battleship ridge to Boulder Creek, up to Dutchman, and back to First Water TH.

LaBarge Box lives up to the hype: a very nice place.

The walk up LaBarge Cr., the Box, and then the small trail over the ridge were the highlights. I approached this area from the Canyon Lake Marina a short time ago and my recommendation for the best trail combination would be to come in on the nice Second Water Trail and after visiting the Box and crossing over to Boulder Canyon, take the Boulder Canyon Trail north out to the marina....yeah that would be a good one if the transportation can be arranged.

I'm glad I did the loop I did (always better to come back a different way) but the upper part of Boulder Canyon trail is a bit scraggly and the Dutchman is a little too familiar to be much fun.
