Decided to avoid the weekend crowds and head up today. Started at 11 o'clock and there were still more cars in the lot than I expected. No set agenda today, just get some exercise and take more flower pictures. Since I haven't done much hiking lately, I figured if I felt too tired when I hit Sweetwater Saddle, I would just go back from there via the old mining road. Shortly into the hike I met a nice man from Oregon who asked me about the flowers. He said he wanted to go to the peak but wasn't real familiar with the area, so I stuck with him and we took our time reaching the top. He wanted to try going back via Hugh Norris and Esperanza, so I agreed to hike back with him that way. It was a mostly enjoyable hike with plenty of wildflowers hanging in there despite the lack of recent rain. The display in the lower elevations was fading fast (except for the chicory), but higher up things were still going strong.

Havasu Canyon Trail - Sep 15 2014
I was watching the helicopter make multi-drops of people and supplies when, at one point, a stray horse wandered into the landing field (the gate was open). The guys unloading the supplies chased it around the field until it went back out the gate. Then as it was running up the main drag, another resident must have thought it got loose so he shooed it back into another open gate and back into the field. So now these guys are chasing it around the field again but this time they start pelting it with rocks. The horse was panicking and didn't know where to go. Rocks were being hurled at it from all directions. He ended up falling down after a really hard rock hit and it looked like he broke...
