Having ridden the tram to the top, we decided to head into the snow toward Kiwanis Cabin. We headed out from the upper tram terminal and took S. Crest Trail 130 to Trail 94. Initially, signs describing local flora dotted the trail, but as we got further along the snow became deeper and the signage (and footprints) tapered off. The cabin, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps around 1930, is well worth the trip. It's constructed of local limestone, and some really exciting fossil hash can be found in the foundation stones. The views of the valley below are pretty spectacular, too.
