I wanted to use this location as a base camp for a Cottonwood/Sedona weekend. It was pretty crowded, but we got a spot in Quail Loop, as the tent camping area was full. After the tents were set up, it was off to Jerome to eat and have a cold one or two. After that a brief visit to nearby Tuzigoot before returning to camp. Wandered around some of the trails in the park, checking out the rental cabins and the Verde. After dark some nearby campers invited us over to look through their telescope, and we enjoyed a beautiful mild evening by the campfire until around 11 o'clock (I finally got to burn that bundle of wood I had been carrying around in the truck since last fall).
