Decided to do this hike on a beautiful December weekend. The parking lot was full and the trail was crowded, which was disappointing, but arriving at Tom's Thumb and a side trip up to the lookout made the trip more than worthwhile!! I can't add much to the Tom's Thumb trail that hasn't already been said, but if you're already up there, take the extra short trip to the Lookout and enjoy the panoramic views of north Scottsdale and Fountain Hills.
