My goal for the day was to reach the high point on Coffee Flat Mountain. I also wanted to get a view down into the LaBarge upper box if I could. Started at the Peralta trailhead on the Dutchman trail, up to Miners Saddle, and on to the Whiskey Springs trail. At the saddle where Whiskey Springs starts its descent, I went off trail up to the ridgeline of Coffee Flat Mountain. The going is pretty easy at first, but gets progressively tougher. Lots of scrambling and finding a good route to traverse the rough terrain. The climb to the high point (peak?) has some exposure. I continued along the ridgline east past 4621 which is labeled the high point on some maps, but lower than the peak I climbed. There is a nice mesa up there with an old small fenced area. I continued north to get views of the LaBarge upper box. Awesome views from all along the ridgeline! Quite a few wildflowers still out there. Many hedgehog, cholla, and prickly pear cactus are in bloom as well.
