This hike is my first two sections completed of the AZT. Very nice hiking along the Gila River, then up into the scenic mountains to the north. We took a wrong turn by the Gila that added a mile to our hike. The afternoon got a bit warm but the wind made things feel cooler. Much preferred AZT 16 over 17. Went through a very recent burn area SW of Picketpost. Looked like a few hundred acres. Nice hiking with you again John. Thanks for including me and for the post hike ice cream cone!
