A friend of our was leading a SAHC Backpack to Lemmon Pools. On Thursday night, we decided to tag along.

We took a leisurely pace to one of my favorite campsites past the junction with the Lemmon Rock Trail. While we were waiting for everyone to set up camp I found a tree with a nest and two little birds and an egg.

We went down to the pools and played around on pool floats. Joel and I also jumped into the keyhole. The water was breathtaking cold! We were joined at the pools by another backpacking group from ABC. After we dried off we returned to camp.

I can't ever just sit around so I headed off to explore the area. I managed to find the Balanced Rock and also climbed up to one of the high points. I was treated to great views of the area, Thimble, the Lookout, and more. A couple stopped by our camp asking for directions to Lemmon Pools. Our friend, Deb, offered to take them in the morning. After dinner, I ran back to the Balanced Rock to catch some photos of sunset. I missed the actual sunset but not the bright orange/red clouds.

In the morning, we had a leisurely breakfast (three cups of tea). Our party split into about 4 groups that departed at different times. Joel and I headed out about 9:30 AM and took the Lemmon Rock trail up to the Lookout. From there we took the Aspen trail back to Marshal Gulch.
