We got started just before 5:30a and were the only ones at the TH. The hike is was easy and went over to Second Water Spring to see if it had water. The spring is dry but we took a detour over to the petroglyphs and I showed Denny where the mines were located. We had a few other stops planned to we hiked back to Garden Valley and turned north by Hackberry Mesa. We took the second detour over to the mine north of Hackberry Mesa. Denny crawled in to converse with the bats. I've been in there few times in the past so I took in the morning views and waited. As we approached the trees a large bird flew out. I zoomed it to get a picture but it was a little too far off so difficult to identify exactly. We stopped by Hackberry Spring and found it was trickling and there is a large there. We picked up the pace in the exit and finished just before 9a.
