This passage turned out to be much better than expected. I started out a tad before 5 to beat the heat and within the first 5 miles had crossed paths with 4 different Rattle Snakes. That is by far the most I have ever seen in that short of a stretch.

The views along the Black Hills Ridge were great and at first there was overcast. As soon as the sun poked through the desert really came alive in color.

Yesterday I cached water at the Beehive Well/Tank which is 19.5 miles into the hike. With the cloud cover for the first half of the morning it turned out that I didn't need it.

It's always amazing to me to look at something far off in the distance (Antelope Peak today) and think that you are going to actually hike that far. Then it comes and goes and when you turn and look back it feels like an accomplishment. I love that.

The Freeman Road Rancher shuttled me back to the Tiger Mine Trailhead. Really nice of him!
