There's nothing like the combination of distance and altitude gain in the rarified air of the Coconino forest to test a desert dweller's stamina. When I got to the trailhead, I had some serious doubts as to if I could make it to the summit. But after almost 3 hours I did finally make it. I was a little concerned about altitude sickness, but aside from a little queasiness at the summit, had no problems with that. Took my time on the way down and did the round trip in just a little under 6 hours. The only downside was the smoke from the Brin fire and the other fire just south of Flagstaff obstructed the view, but otherwise a nice hike.
