I decided to take the path another hiker took to the South off of the ridge the last time I was on this trail.

I did find a path from Pima Canyon that is not blocked off by rocks nor by a "Don't be a trailblazer" sign. It is off of the Beverly Canyon trail between the National Trail and the saddle where you walk under the power lines. The first photo(01.jpg) shows the steep incline that you must hike.

Anyways, the second photo(02.jpg) shows how good the view of Phoenix is, and the third and fourth photos(03.jpg) are of the turnoff(04.jpg) to the South trail. This trail is about 100 yards East of the Saguaro turnoff to drop down into Hidden Valley.

This South trail descends steeply and with several switchbacks. It passes by some rather large elephant trees(05.jpg) (see the last photo). The trail ends at marker 23 of the Desert Classic trail.
