Even with warm weather today - mid to high 80's - this was such a nice hike. Started at the campground trailhead and enjoyed hearing the water as we hiked. Saw a tiny snake and several lizards and some squirrels with really long ear hair. Went the 2 miles to the split with the Mexican Hay lake trail and had on the wrong shoes for the steep climb of the gravel/rocks. But made it anyway and had lots of peek-through views along the climb. The wind was perfect and made the hot sun less noticeable. Ran into 4 people total in the 6 miles round trip. Wasn't prepared to go all the way to the lake - I assume there is a lake after the rains the last two days and hail storm last evening.

Havasu Canyon Trail - Sep 15 2014
I was watching the helicopter make multi-drops of people and supplies when, at one point, a stray horse wandered into the landing field (the gate was open). The guys unloading the supplies chased it around the field until it went back out the gate. Then as it was running up the main drag, another resident must have thought it got loose so he shooed it back into another open gate and back into the field. So now these guys are chasing it around the field again but this time they start pelting it with rocks. The horse was panicking and didn't know where to go. Rocks were being hurled at it from all directions. He ended up falling down after a really hard rock hit and it looked like he broke...
