Located off highway 220 in Wyoming. Independence Rock is on the Old Oregon Trail and is named for the time of year travelers arrived if they were on schedule to beat the harsh winters. Being thankful to make it here by Independence Day, many travelers would etch their names on this granite rock and perhaps post a message.
