By chance I selected to go on this hike not knowing that it has been closed for two years because of fire, but luck would have it - it opened up the weekend before (according to a fellow hiker). I was going to do the North trail, but because of the perfect weather and an open parking spot, did the South instead. Loved every minute of this hike - took about 2 hours and 45 minutes to reach the top, and the views were nothing short of breathtaking the entire way - and the view from the top overlooking Sedona was just beautiful. I would recommend this hike to anyone in halfway decent shape, it was tough but not a killer - the elevation gain was gradual and the trail was good shape. The fire damage is very obvious as you ascend, and the forest at the top has wooden poles to help guide you to the lookouts. Can't wait to try this one using the other trail up. I love Sedona!!!!!!!!!!!
